My Week In Review

A week ago Thursday we got word that Eriks grandma Agnes (his dads mom) had died. She was a very precious lady and we wanted to be with the family and pay our respects at her service so we loaded up on Sunday night and headed to Minneapolis (a non-stop flight, I'll have you know). We left about 5:30PM Sunday night and arrived in Minneapolis about 6AM on Monday. We took the shuttle to the Embassy Suites where we met up with Erik's parents and together we all drove to Bismarck (well, Ken drove. Erik and I slept - the time change was murder the first few days.)

It was a nice few days spent with family (aren't I so lucky that my inlaws really are like family? And no, I'm not just writing that because they read this!). The service was lovely and everyone giggled at the fact she hated people fussing over her and would have been embarrassed that so many people had come so far to say goodbye - but we wouldn't have missed it. She was a very sweet lady that we are all better for knowing, I just wish I could have known her better.

On Wednesday after the service there was a family picnic and after that we loaded up and drove to Fargo, a two hour drive from Bismarck, just to shave two hours off our early morning drive on Thursday. When we went out to dinner it was decided we should have champagne to celebrate Erik's home-iversary and apparently at this restaurant when you order the bubbly you get fee dessert. WELL, the waitress knew what we were celebrating and brought candles (red and blue, of course) in our dessert. She was very sweet and appreciative. I don't think Erik wanted the fuss, but dangit, he deserves it!

So we got home Thursday night and now here we are. Friday night was dinner and a movie with the gang, minus Rich (but not for much longer!). At least he didn't have to sit through the ridiculousness that is "You Don't Mess With The Zohan"...

BTW - Congrats to Nate and Emily! YAY engagments!
